| A few years ago I named ANR (formerly AWRSP - The Agency of State Agricultural Property) "a novercal owner". Today they should probably be called "the terminators of Polish horse breeding". The Agency itself has survived all closing attempts of each governmental equip after 1998, now under the present political turmoil, they launched a hasty plan of shutting down of at least 6 stallion depots.

We have established Hippica Pro Patria Society as a communication platform of different horse related societies in order to lobby for the development of the equine industry in Poland. The auction of young Polish warmblood stallions at Bialy Bor ended with only one sale ( stallion Leonardo exported to Italy for EUR 7.500). In Boguslawice none of the horses was sold in spite of the fact that there were 4 clients ready to buy. One of them drove 2.000 km from Germany to bid on a horse from Liski State Stud. A day before the auction Agencja Nieruchomości Rolnych (ANR), the government organ supervising state breeding, withdrew two of four colts entered in the auction by Liski. Next day, having learned that the client was still interested in the remaining two ANR cancelled them, half an hour before the sale.

The present condition of Polish breeding is like purposefully shattered domino stones.
Nothing fits anything and serves nothing. It is an offence to the memory of our predecessors and shame to our generation. The whole divided society of Polish horsemen takes an indirect blame, but direct responsibility rests with the Agricultural Property Agency who was entrusted the task of managing the state breeding.

Krzysztof Ludwiczak was undoubtedly the best rider of the Torwar show 2007. He won both tours, jumped from third CEL ranking position to the first place and will represent our league in the FEI World Cup Finals in Las Vegas. Krzysztof did not have a strong foreign competition, The only rider who could jump off for the President’s Trophy, Mikhail Safronov (Russia) had a fortuitous fault on the last obstacle. The unlucky rider received warm farewell cheers from the Polish audience and this was one of the best moments of Sygnity TOYOTA Word Cup 2007.

27-03-2007 | |  Irina Lis won both Torwar dressage competitions with Problesk, 17 years old, trakehner gelding bred in Byelorussia. They collected 68,208% in Grand Prix (Competition 4) and performed even better in GP Kur (Competition 10) to win with score 71,400% and succulent prize 16.000 PLN. The catch of the day was however the Las Vegas ticket. We are sure the Byelorussian rider will nicely represent our league in the FEI WC Finals.

Torwar has always been lucky for the Poles. In just a few days, we will see top Polish jumpers there, headed by Jarosław Skrzyczyński, Łukasz Jończyk, Jacek Zagor, Krzysztof Ludwiczak, Grzegorz Kubiak and Piotr Morsztyn.
Although the Warsaw show has probably small influence on the final CEL jumping result we will witness a tough competition for quite high prize money offered by Sygnity and Toyota for the 2007 event. Among foreign guests, a pair of very good Russian riders:
Mikhail Safronov and Lubov Kochetova will certainly compete for the top honors. They both successfully ride in the Western world.

|  A good sport horse is worth a fortune.
Everybody knows it but few see it as a chance for Polish breeding.
European shows are dominated by German, Dutch and Belgian horses. Poland became a market for sport horses and an opinion prevails among riders that the future of Polish sports may only be founded on imported horses. Some examples seem to confirm this statement. Belgian- bred Risoptin, a 2 y.o. stallion was among the best horses of 2006 Torwar show.
